Thyroid tumors originate from two cell types: 1) medullar carcinoma from parafolicullar cells and 2) the tumors derived from follicular epithelial cells, which include multinodular goiter, adenomas, differentiated carcinomas (papillary and follicular carcinoma) and undifferentiated carcinoma (anaplastic carcinoma).
