Cushing’s syndrome comprises the symptoms and signs associated with prolonged exposure to inappropriately elevated levels of free plasma glucocorticoids. When iatrogenic causes are excluded, the commonest cause of Cushing’s syndrome is Cushing’s disease, accounting for approximately 70% of cases.
